Literacy Narrative Assessment

Learner: Jiani                           Learning Coach: Mr Hattie                Date: 26 June 2015
Learning Area: Learning Habitat 2 - Literacy
Learning Observed
In literacy Jiani has been working really hard. In our lesson we were working on thinking of questions that we want to find out about our books. Jiani was reading about a man named Rupert and his Ice Cream shop. Her question that she wanted to find out was why does Rupert make ice-cream? This was showing that she is able to be Curious. This is great to see as she is learning about our School Values. During the lesson she got very excited when she found out the answer to her question.

Key Competencies/Vision Principles
Jiani was showing the Key Competency “Thinking” as she had to think about the text and what she was curious about. She was also showing “Managing self” because this activity was an independent task during her reading. She read the story out loud and was trying to find the answer to her question.
Next Learning Steps
Jiani’s next learning steps are:
  • ask questions about events and characters in a text.
  • Develop capabilities around talking about her text.
