Learner: Jiani
Learning Coach: T.Dillner           Date: 2.3.16
Learning Area: iDevelop - Reading
Key Competency: Using Language, Symbols and Text
Learning Observed
Jiani’s group had been learning about identifying the characters and writing about why that was so. Jiani followed the instructions and prompts, successfully identifying who her favourite character was and recording this in writing. She showed a developing curiosity in the text by outlining why that character was her favourite and can work on adding more detail to this in the future. Jiani was capable of completing this in the given time frame and used her time well which is a positive outcome for her.

Today I read “I am a Painter” with Jiani. She read the cover “I am a…” Then looked at me to tell her what it was. I told her to look at the paint and said “painter”. We turned to the first part of the story. She read, “I am a…” Again I asked her to look at the picture. I said, “teacher”. She read, “I am a teacher”. She was able to read “I am a doctor”. Then the next page had a nurse on it. She said, “I am a…” I said, “n..n...n” She said, “Nurse”. Jiani was able to read the last page, “I am a driver”.
